The Jacksonville Giants are devoted to establishing community relationships as well as promoting students to achieve academic success. The Giants have established a program that partners with the Duval County school district to encourage students to meet their reading requirements set by their teachers. The team, players, dancers and mascot Mr. Biggs, visit each school individually to speak to the students about the importance of reading and doing well in school.

Each assembly is extremely interactive and allows students to discuss books and valuable life skills with our team. Additionally, the program includes game vouchers for students and their families, who meet the reading requirements mandated by their instructors. The Books for Baskets program has proven to be incredibly beneficial to both students and players and is a very exciting way to promote academic success.

The Books for Baskets program has been so successful, that the Giants were awarded the Duval County Schools Business Recognition Award in 2011. It is an important program to the entire Giants organization and a team favorite.
