The Jacksonville Giants won their fifth straight game, in an overbearing 154-85 win over the visiting Columbus Blackhawks. The Giants had eight players score in double digits in the win. Jacksonville improves to 7-2 on the season and will close out the weekend series with Columbus on Sunday at 5 PM.

The Giants offense was explosive and unstoppable. First year Giant Robert Hornsby led the team with 27 points. Hornsby’s physical inside presence was too much for the Blackhawks to contain. Aaron Bowen and Keith McDougald both first-year Giant players, also helped compliment Hornsby adding 15 points each. Bowen added a team-high 15 rebounds on the evening, which gave him a double-double for the game.

Cedric McGowan also had a double-double, scoring 11 points with 10 rebounds. Bowen and McGowan’s rebounding helped Jacksonville outboard Columbus 75-49 as a team. Aluk Adub was third on the team with nine rebounds. Adub also had a team-high five blocks.

Other scoring leaders for Jacksonville included Bernard Nugent (14 points), Larry Dumas (11 points), Bruce Brown (10 points), and Jermaine Bell (13 points). Every player listed on the Giants roster scored at least two points in the game. Maliki Daniels had 27 points for Columbus.

Following tomorrow afternoon’s concluding game with Columbus, the Giants will return to the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday, January 28, in a match-up with the Fayetteville Flight. Tipoff will be at 7:30 pm.
