The Jacksonville Giants won their 11th straight game in a, 141-100, win over the Tampa Bay Fury. Jacksonville improves to 11-1 on the season and look to make a major push in the next batch of ABA Power Rankings. Jacksonville was led by former ABA MVP Maurice Mickens. Mickens scored a game high 34 points in the win. Mickens was 5-7 from the three point line and shot 76% on the night.
Larry Dumas, Elijah Smith, and Aaron Bowen rounded out the scoring leaders for Jacksonville. The Giants shot 84% from the free throw line and 55% from the field. The team played with a rapid offensive tempo to keep Tampa Bay grounded all evening. The quick tempo offense put nine Giants players in double digit scoring for the night.
Defensively Jacksonville was just as impressive. The Giants forced an incredible 25 steals on the night. Brandon Davis, Bernard Nugent, and Elijah Smith all had a big hand in steals with Davis having five with Nugent and Smith adding four each. The forced turnovers created misery for the Tampa Bay offense.
Jacksonville will now turn their attention to a weekend road trip to Georgia before returning home on February 26th. The Giants will face Georgia and Atlanta before taking on Palm Beach in a rematch on February 26th.
