It’s not about how you start, but rather how you finish! The Jacksonville Giants proved their dominance in an astounding win over the St. Augustine Glory this past Saturday. The Giants got off to a rocky start and found themselves in a tight game at halftime, a situation they haven’t been in much this season. Despite this, the squad came out with a purpose in the 2nd half, as they continue to leave fans in awe. The Giants marveled the audience above the rim and on the defensive side of the ball to rally a comeback in front of the rowdy home crowd. Big time steals on the defensive side led to high flying alley-oops in transition for the 6 time champions at Ridgeview High School, as they kept their unbeaten record intact with a 125-91 victory.
First and foremost, Coach Jerry Williams continues to assert himself as a force in the league as he once again is coaching a lethal Giants squad. Despite many new faces on the team, it appears the former Coach of the Year has mastered his rotations, defensive matchups, and all other aspects to winning. He found his team in a tight matchup against a hungry and ferocious St. Augustine unit, but made the proper halftime adjustments to run away with the game in the 3rd, and prevail yet again.
With the win, Jacksonville now finds themselves shooting up the power rankings, all the way up to number 2, trailing only the North Alabama War Dawgs. There are two games left for the Giants in the regular season, as next week they are set to take on the newly ranked Georgia Gwizzlies, and even better are capping off the season with the much anticipated battle against #1 North Alabama. It is a finish to the season that nobody will want to miss, so make sure and keep track of the Jacksonville Giants and their pursuit to another championship.
