Bernard “Lil Nugent” Nugent is a Jacksonville native hailing from the city’s eastside who played his high school basketball at Andrew Jackson High School.
Nugent has been a player who competes every time he steps onto the court, including competing for a roster spot after failing to make the team’s final roster. Head coach Jerry Williams has always been pleased by the fact that Nugent has been a player who plays with a little extra edge.
“Bernard didn’t make the final roster out of vet camp but he showed up to practice every day and competed for a jersey,” said Williams. “After a week of watching him dominate in practice in practice, Bernard is one of our top guys.”
Since entering the league, Nugent has already made his name as one of the league’s best lockdown defenders, defending some of the league’s best perimeter players and shot makers. However, he has always had that defensive edge throughout his basketball career.
While attending Truet-McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia, Nugent ranked number one in the division in steals per game (4.15) and holds the record for most steals in a game (9).
When Nugent is not playing basketball, you can find him hanging out with his friends and family, playing PlayStation, or watching his favorite player in the NBA, Los Angeles Laker, LeBron James.
Nugent gains inspiration as he plays from his family who attends and cheers him on every game. The 6-foot point guard is now a seasoned vet with the Giants and looks to help the Giants win another championship.
